Centre for Youth Your Serbia and the Centre for Education, Research and Development in collaboration with high school Artimedia launched the project “Creative Support to the Social Inclusion of Youth with Disabilities” on November 20, 2012, on the Universal Children’s Day. For this occasion students of the high school Artimedia organized an event/show for young people with disabilities.
During the following month, every Saturday in high school Artimedia young people with disabilities were participating in creative workshops in the field of acting, dancing, singing and painting along with the students of the high school Artimedia. At the same time young people socialized and learn new skills.
At the acting classes, which were led by young actress Andriana Gavrilovic, young people learned how to open up, express their emotions; they freed themselves from constraints and shame, connected with peers and developed friendly relations.
Great atmosphere was present at singing lessons, led by Sasa Mirosavljevic. In these classes, young participants were taught the text of the song “Victory” which was also performed at a mutual performance at the end of the project.
Dance classes, led by a well-known dancer Toma Djordjevic, contributed to the development of teamwork through mutual learning of the choreography, step by step, which was crowned with a small performance at the end of the project.
Painting workshops for young people were particularly enjoyable. Classes were led by Professor Ilija Visnjic. Workshop participants experimented with different forms of visual art, from tempera paint to work with wax crayons; they have also been able to draw while the music was played by one of the students of the high school Artimedia who took on the role of a DJ during workshops.
Marija Minic from the Centre for Youth Your Serbia expressed her gratitude to Telekom Serbia, who made this project possible, as well as students of high schools Artimedia who have actively participated in all activities.
